onething’09 Thursday Recap

Happy New Year!

Thank you for joining us this year at onething’09. Many have been blessed by the tangible presence of the Lord as He broke in with salvation, healing, and deliverance. This year we made both the conference and the live webstream absolutely free. We are fully committed to continue making these conferences free of charge and in order to do this we need to raise roughly $50 per person from offerings and gifts from people like you. As of right now we are about $200,000 short of our goal for this year. Please pray about sowing into this conference and the ministry of IHOP–KC. Today marks the last day for tax-deductible gifts for 2009. We cannot do this without your help and partnership; thank you so much for your support. God bless you.

An end-time missions movement is on the horizon. As the nations rage for a political, economic, and military leader, the Church is calling for Jesus, the one man who alone is able to rule the nations. Dwayne spoke this morning about the time we find ourselves in as the swirl of world events continues to make the darkness darker and the light brighter. Imagine a billion souls being radically saved and joining in the cry for Jesus to return. The Spirit and the bride are crying, “Come, Lord Jesus!”

God is raising up those who will offer incense to His name in every place (Mal 1:11). Allen Hood spoke this afternoon about priests in the Old Testament gathering coals from the altar to create a cloud of incense thick enough to shield himself from the weight of God’s glory in the most holy place (Lev. 16:12-13). In this hour, God is establishing prophetic worshipers to offer incense all over the earth before the coming of His Son in power and glory.

Mike Bickle spoke for the two afternoon sessions on two key issues facing the end-time church. First, he expounded on God’s plan for Israel and the battle for Jerusalem. God’s Word insists that the Church stand with His purposes for Israel. This is not optional; it is a litmus test of the Church’s obedience, especially in the end times. The highest issue in serving God’s purpose for Israel is obeying Jesus’ sovereign leadership—loving what He loves and doing what He does. Second, Mike covered the issue of the great falling away (1 Tim. 4). Our allegiance to Jesus and complete love of the truth are the main weapons we have in resisting false doctrine and spiritual stupor in these last days. Lines are being drawn even now over the truth of who Jesus is.

In the final session of the onething young adult conference, Lou Engle delivered a message charged with zeal for the preservation of life. Revivals are born to bring forth justice, he said. Because God is the creator of the universe, changing His intention for marriage and life will bring judgment. In our culture rampant with deceptions concerning love, marriage, and what constitutes life, God is establishing justice by thundering His truth about life and marriage. Lou stressed that the Church can no longer compromise these truths which God Himself established. We must take a bold, prophetic stand to uphold God’s terms and conditions of life, regardless of persecution.

onething’09 Wednesday Recap

What Happened Today

A Call to Missions – Mark Anderson
This morning’s session with Mark Anderson and Loren Cunningham of YWAM was inspiring. What a privilege to hear from men who have given their lives to taking the gospel to the nations. They have such an anointing for missions and spoke powerfully about how God is doing a new thing as he brings the prayer movement together with the missions movement for a worldwide release of the Holy Spirit’s power. Mark highlighted that we are now at the beginning of the greatest outpouring the world has seen. Acts 1:8 declares that “we will be witnesses” to the ends of the earth when we receive the Spirit. Whether we go across the street or across the sea, we are called to go and make disciples. It is time to take the message of Jesus to where the people live. God is redefining missions as reaching everyone in every culture, in every society, everywhere.

Mark encouraged us to trust the awakening and the move of the Spirit in our midst. He dared us to dream, to go, to be witnesses—everywhere and at all times. What would it look like if 20,000 people began to speak the word of the Lord as Peter did at Pentecost, when 3,000 came to the Lord in one day?

Mark shared about Call2All, a worldwide movement calling the global Church to reach the least, the last, and the lost, networking churches, missions organizations, and prayer ministries to work as one to complete the Great Commission. See www.call2all.org and www.uofnkona.org for more details on how to be involved.

A Call to Obey – Loren Cunningham
Loren Cunningham founded YWAM 50 years ago and has been to every nation and territory on earth as an ambassador for the Lord. YWAM has permanent bases in 150 nations. Loren spoke with faith and passion about the need for abandoned believers with fearless spirits who are willing to intercede, hear God’s voice, and obey without regard to comfort or safety so that the message of the gospel would reach all nations, including those who have never heard and do not have the gospel in their own language. God has given this generation the tools necessary to fulfill the Great Commission: the Word, His Spirit, technology, transportation, media, spiritual gifts, and understanding. We have everything we need to reach a lost world with power and clarity. For those willing to risk everything, God is willing to grant anything so that Jesus would be glorified in the earth!

“The Great Commission is not an option to be considered; it is a command to be obeyed.” –Hudson Taylor

A Call to Love – Mike Bickle
This afternoon Mike spoke on the first commandment. God is restoring the first and great commandment to first place as He calls His Bride to be equally yoked in love. The reality is that God wants us to love Him with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength because He loves us in this way. The ability to love God and feel His love is the greatest gift that the Holy Spirit can reveal to us. One of the core issues concerning the end times is the definition of love. There is no such thing as loving God without seeking to obey Him (Jn. 14:21). Jesus did not call it the first option but the first commandment; He is after love from us and the mystery of all of life is found in this truth.

onething’09 Welcomes International Visitors
As over 20,000 gather in Kansas City at onething’09, the Lord is drawing international communities. Many have traveled here from China,Taiwan, Korea, Spain, Mexico, and South American nations. Many attendees are receiving the ministry of the word of the Lord in their own languages (Mandarin Chinese, Korean, and Spanish) as the Spirit moves in our midst. We have information meetings for four ethnic/language groups (Chinese, Korean, Arab, and Latino) where the heart of the Father is being shared. The spirit of prophecy has been prayed over individuals who will take the fire back to their homeland.

onething’09 Tuesday Recap

onething’09 welcomes Loren Cunningham

One of today’s highlights was welcoming Loren Cunningham, the founder of Youth With A Mission (YWAM), recognized by many as the premier statesman and father of the modern-day missions movement. Celebrating 50 years in 2010, YWAM has 25,000 full-time staff worldwide. It is an honor to have Loren with us. He was stirred by the Lord last week to come and join Mike Bickle and the IHOP–KC leadership and will share tomorrow morning (Wednesday) on the significance of the growing partnership between the missions movement and the prayer movement—a very significant development in church history.

What happened today?

Both Wes Martin and Corey Russell spoke this morning, sharing their hearts on what the Spirit is saying in this hour. Wes opened up, stressing the reality that the Lord had this specific generation in mind when He prophesied through Isaiah that His house would be called a house of prayer for all nations (Isa. 56:7). We each have an active role in partnering with His heart to see the release of His purposes. Corey spoke on Jesus’ teachings from John 13–17, developing the ministry of intercession as it pertains to the Church in this hour, highlighting the need to understand the Father’s heart and to be stabilized in His love so that we might remain unshaken as trouble looms on the horizon. The session gave way to a time of ministry as many were healed of spiritual and emotional wounds.

The Lord is awakening in His people an earnest desire to be vessels of His supernatural power. During the afternoon Mike Bickle exhorted us that as His sons and daughters part of our inheritance is this very reality—that all would prophesy, heal the sick, and manifest His gifts. Mike shared some very practical principles of the supernatural ministry, touching on receiving words and giving expression to gifts and impressions. Whatever the gift, whether in small or large measure, all that the Lord gives us is to be pursued and valued as we seek to live out lives of obedience and partnership to Jesus.

Why are we here? What’s it all for? What does life consist of? Tonight, Misty Edwards examined the purpose of life, existence, and our future as eternal beings. Our lives are to be centered on the reality that is found in the life, death, resurrection, and promise of the return of Jesus. We were made to bring God pleasure and feel His joy within us. Misty called us to live from the heart before God’s eyes alone, as living examples of His love. The message of Jesus’ commitment to redeem and sanctify us, we who He loves with a desperate passion, leaves room for only one response: total abandonment and lovesick worship until He returns!

The Holy Spirit descended upon the children’s meetings today with clear and powerful revelations. As Lenny LaGuardia led the ministry time, the Lord came into the room with His tangible presence. It was a powerful time of encounter in which many young children were undoubtedly marked for life with the love of Jesus Christ, some for the first time.

onething’09 Monday recap

What happened today?

The onething 2009 conference is officially underway. With people watching on six continents and 22,000 plus registered so far, we are excited and expectant to see what the Lord will do amongst us this year. This is our biggest onething to date.

During the first afternoon session today, Wes Hall began by highlighting some of the different encounters many in the IHOP–KC community have had during the recent awakening meetings. The Lord has been meeting us with healings and deliverance and Wes talked about how this awakening began with the IHOPU students in early November and how it has been continuing and growing ever since. The Lord, in His kindness has broken in and set many of us free from wrong paradigms, self-hatred, a spirit of fear, a religious spirit, depression, suicide, and anxiety, bringing joy and freedom, a greater love for the Word, and a passion for souls. Many have experienced physical healing and manifestations of power and of the wine of His presence. We are looking forward to a greater outpouring of His Spirit in our midst and, in faith, we are anticipating more from the Lord during the next days and weeks.

Mike began the evening session by stressing the importance of having a clear, prophetic ear in this desperate hour. The Church is on the verge of a great revival as this nation stands at a critical juncture in history. The Holy Spirit is visiting His people with power as the light of righteousness grows brighter and the onslaught of darkness becomes darker. The Lord is speaking clearly and many are responding with wholeheartedness. We are encouraged and confident as we wait for the coming outpouring that will sweep across the nations.

Loren Cunningham is speaking at onething’09

onething09 Free Webcast

The onething’09 conference begins today, here in Kansas City. With over 20,000 people registered to come, this is the largest onething conference we have had yet. Furthermore, we have just received news that Loren Cunningham will coming to speak at the onething’09 conference.

Click here to join us for the free, online webcast.

Loren is the founder of Youth With A Mission (YWAM) and is recognized by many as the premier statesman and father in the missions movement worldwide. YWAM currently has about 25,000 full-time staff worldwide making it and Campus Crusade for Christ the two largest missions organizations in history. He started YWAM in 1960 and YWAM is celebrating their 50th anniversary throughout 2010, thus his schedule is very full.

However, just last week, Loren was stirred by the Lord to come to the onething conference and has made last minute changes to his schedule to join Mike Bickle and the IHOP–KC leadership team because of the significance of what we believe is going to occur at this conference.

We believe that Loren’s coming to this conference signals something significant in God’s heart. Loren believes that this event could play a key role in preparing the way for what God is going to do in 2010. God is causing a deep partnership of the missions movement with the prayer movement in this hour. Over the past several years, many of the leaders in the prayer movement and the missions movement have joined together in an intentional way to work towards fulfilling the Great Commission. This dynamic synergism between the prayer and missions movements is an exciting development in church history and its significance must not be overlooked.

We encourage you to join with us for this historic moment in person at Bartle Hall in Kansas City with 20,000+ young adults or by webcast via IHOP.org. You can also join us live on GOD TV (DirecTV channel 365).

Help us spread the word, by forwarding this email to friends, family, and church leaders. While 20,000+ people are joining us in person at Bartle Hall in Kansas City, many more can join us online.

From the Forerunner Bookstore: Babylon (Reviewed)

Available at onething December 28

Peter Herder, part of the IHOP–KC family, has created a detailed account of the resurgence of the world’s most infamous and sinister city. Babylon is a fast-paced account of the history and effects of humanity’s lust for power, wealth, and glory. Weaving strong, forceful narrative with well-researched, biblical history, Babylon is a synopsis of the entire life of this infamous city, from Genesis to Revelation. Though it could be considered a study tool about the end times, it reads like a narrative, easily engaging the mind, heart, and emotions.

I found this book to be a great read, it was exciting, thorough, and insightful concerning what the Bible has to say about this subject. I had a hard time putting it down! I so appreciated the boldness and clarity of communication about the intensity of the hour in which we find ourselves at this juncture in history. Babylon is a hard-hitting wake up call for all of us to not only know and discern the times and seasons but to speak boldly about the truths of the end times. In an age where wishy-washy pluralism and religious syncretism are quickly gaining ground, it is absolutely imperative for voices to arise and proclaim the Day of the Lord with all of its implications. I found myself stirred to intercede and to prepare for the most dramatic events looming on the horizon.

I recommend this book to any serious student of the Bible, especially to students with a focus in eschatology. Its overarching sweep of biblical accounts concerning Babylon and its simple, gripping style cause this story to come to life. Babylon really is a tale of two cities, marking the difference between Babylon, fallen man’s vain attempt at eternal glory, and the New Jerusalem, the inheritance of the saints of God.

The Necessity of Pressing In

We love the prayer room. It is the center of everything we do and it is the springboard for the entire ministry that we, as a missions base, put our hands to.

Yes, we love the prayer room but there are those days, those times, when we would give anything to be somewhere else; such is our humanity. After four straight hours of prayer we begin to wonder if we can indeed keep going for the next two!

We are, all of us, weak in the things of the Spirit. We are not naturally gifted with the perseverance, patience, and intensity necessary to carry the burden of the Lord in intercession. The simple truth is that we must work to be sensitive to the things of the Spirit.

Endurance for an athlete comes only by the stretching, tearing, and rebuilding of muscle tissue through the rigors of practice, training, and competition. It is similar for our spirit man; we must condition it and build it up by pressing in and not giving up when our flesh is warring for the immediate pleasures and gratifications of this life. An athlete that never pushes through the pain of training would never be expected to win a championship. We must run in such a way as to win the prize and we must take advantage of every moment to train ourselves in the things of the kingdom of God.

From the Prayer Room

The Holy Spirit is moving in the IHOP–KC community. For two weeks now, many have experienced healings from the Lord, both emotional and physical. We only hope that they continue to increase, in intensity and duration, knowing that “where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom” (2 Cor. 3:17).

At the heart of all that has been happening is the prayer room. With this move of the Holy Spirit, our faith is bolstered and our hearts are fired to press into the goodness and kindness of God. In our prayer sets there is a renewed fervor to continue to ask for an outpouring of the Holy Spirit. God is the giver of life. He loves to give good gifts to His children, and it behooves us to press Him for more. The Lord moves at the sound of our voice!

As a company of intercessors we have been laboring in prayer these last ten years. Let us continue to labor for the sake of our nation. We are grateful for the gifts the Lord has given us and we are all the more grateful for His manifest presence in our midst but we continue to press in for the word of the Lord for our nation. America needs an awakening revival! How much do we dare to believe the Lord would release? Gratitude is our song right now as we continue to cry out for a nationwide move of the Holy Spirit.
