onething’09 Wednesday Recap

What Happened Today

A Call to Missions – Mark Anderson
This morning’s session with Mark Anderson and Loren Cunningham of YWAM was inspiring. What a privilege to hear from men who have given their lives to taking the gospel to the nations. They have such an anointing for missions and spoke powerfully about how God is doing a new thing as he brings the prayer movement together with the missions movement for a worldwide release of the Holy Spirit’s power. Mark highlighted that we are now at the beginning of the greatest outpouring the world has seen. Acts 1:8 declares that “we will be witnesses” to the ends of the earth when we receive the Spirit. Whether we go across the street or across the sea, we are called to go and make disciples. It is time to take the message of Jesus to where the people live. God is redefining missions as reaching everyone in every culture, in every society, everywhere.

Mark encouraged us to trust the awakening and the move of the Spirit in our midst. He dared us to dream, to go, to be witnesses—everywhere and at all times. What would it look like if 20,000 people began to speak the word of the Lord as Peter did at Pentecost, when 3,000 came to the Lord in one day?

Mark shared about Call2All, a worldwide movement calling the global Church to reach the least, the last, and the lost, networking churches, missions organizations, and prayer ministries to work as one to complete the Great Commission. See www.call2all.org and www.uofnkona.org for more details on how to be involved.

A Call to Obey – Loren Cunningham
Loren Cunningham founded YWAM 50 years ago and has been to every nation and territory on earth as an ambassador for the Lord. YWAM has permanent bases in 150 nations. Loren spoke with faith and passion about the need for abandoned believers with fearless spirits who are willing to intercede, hear God’s voice, and obey without regard to comfort or safety so that the message of the gospel would reach all nations, including those who have never heard and do not have the gospel in their own language. God has given this generation the tools necessary to fulfill the Great Commission: the Word, His Spirit, technology, transportation, media, spiritual gifts, and understanding. We have everything we need to reach a lost world with power and clarity. For those willing to risk everything, God is willing to grant anything so that Jesus would be glorified in the earth!

“The Great Commission is not an option to be considered; it is a command to be obeyed.” –Hudson Taylor

A Call to Love – Mike Bickle
This afternoon Mike spoke on the first commandment. God is restoring the first and great commandment to first place as He calls His Bride to be equally yoked in love. The reality is that God wants us to love Him with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength because He loves us in this way. The ability to love God and feel His love is the greatest gift that the Holy Spirit can reveal to us. One of the core issues concerning the end times is the definition of love. There is no such thing as loving God without seeking to obey Him (Jn. 14:21). Jesus did not call it the first option but the first commandment; He is after love from us and the mystery of all of life is found in this truth.

onething’09 Welcomes International Visitors
As over 20,000 gather in Kansas City at onething’09, the Lord is drawing international communities. Many have traveled here from China,Taiwan, Korea, Spain, Mexico, and South American nations. Many attendees are receiving the ministry of the word of the Lord in their own languages (Mandarin Chinese, Korean, and Spanish) as the Spirit moves in our midst. We have information meetings for four ethnic/language groups (Chinese, Korean, Arab, and Latino) where the heart of the Father is being shared. The spirit of prophecy has been prayed over individuals who will take the fire back to their homeland.

onething’09 Tuesday Recap

onething’09 welcomes Loren Cunningham

One of today’s highlights was welcoming Loren Cunningham, the founder of Youth With A Mission (YWAM), recognized by many as the premier statesman and father of the modern-day missions movement. Celebrating 50 years in 2010, YWAM has 25,000 full-time staff worldwide. It is an honor to have Loren with us. He was stirred by the Lord last week to come and join Mike Bickle and the IHOP–KC leadership and will share tomorrow morning (Wednesday) on the significance of the growing partnership between the missions movement and the prayer movement—a very significant development in church history.

What happened today?

Both Wes Martin and Corey Russell spoke this morning, sharing their hearts on what the Spirit is saying in this hour. Wes opened up, stressing the reality that the Lord had this specific generation in mind when He prophesied through Isaiah that His house would be called a house of prayer for all nations (Isa. 56:7). We each have an active role in partnering with His heart to see the release of His purposes. Corey spoke on Jesus’ teachings from John 13–17, developing the ministry of intercession as it pertains to the Church in this hour, highlighting the need to understand the Father’s heart and to be stabilized in His love so that we might remain unshaken as trouble looms on the horizon. The session gave way to a time of ministry as many were healed of spiritual and emotional wounds.

The Lord is awakening in His people an earnest desire to be vessels of His supernatural power. During the afternoon Mike Bickle exhorted us that as His sons and daughters part of our inheritance is this very reality—that all would prophesy, heal the sick, and manifest His gifts. Mike shared some very practical principles of the supernatural ministry, touching on receiving words and giving expression to gifts and impressions. Whatever the gift, whether in small or large measure, all that the Lord gives us is to be pursued and valued as we seek to live out lives of obedience and partnership to Jesus.

Why are we here? What’s it all for? What does life consist of? Tonight, Misty Edwards examined the purpose of life, existence, and our future as eternal beings. Our lives are to be centered on the reality that is found in the life, death, resurrection, and promise of the return of Jesus. We were made to bring God pleasure and feel His joy within us. Misty called us to live from the heart before God’s eyes alone, as living examples of His love. The message of Jesus’ commitment to redeem and sanctify us, we who He loves with a desperate passion, leaves room for only one response: total abandonment and lovesick worship until He returns!

The Holy Spirit descended upon the children’s meetings today with clear and powerful revelations. As Lenny LaGuardia led the ministry time, the Lord came into the room with His tangible presence. It was a powerful time of encounter in which many young children were undoubtedly marked for life with the love of Jesus Christ, some for the first time.

onething’09 Monday recap

What happened today?

The onething 2009 conference is officially underway. With people watching on six continents and 22,000 plus registered so far, we are excited and expectant to see what the Lord will do amongst us this year. This is our biggest onething to date.

During the first afternoon session today, Wes Hall began by highlighting some of the different encounters many in the IHOP–KC community have had during the recent awakening meetings. The Lord has been meeting us with healings and deliverance and Wes talked about how this awakening began with the IHOPU students in early November and how it has been continuing and growing ever since. The Lord, in His kindness has broken in and set many of us free from wrong paradigms, self-hatred, a spirit of fear, a religious spirit, depression, suicide, and anxiety, bringing joy and freedom, a greater love for the Word, and a passion for souls. Many have experienced physical healing and manifestations of power and of the wine of His presence. We are looking forward to a greater outpouring of His Spirit in our midst and, in faith, we are anticipating more from the Lord during the next days and weeks.

Mike began the evening session by stressing the importance of having a clear, prophetic ear in this desperate hour. The Church is on the verge of a great revival as this nation stands at a critical juncture in history. The Holy Spirit is visiting His people with power as the light of righteousness grows brighter and the onslaught of darkness becomes darker. The Lord is speaking clearly and many are responding with wholeheartedness. We are encouraged and confident as we wait for the coming outpouring that will sweep across the nations.
